The PA-120 ammunition container is used primarily as a shipping container for 40mm grenade cartridges, in linked belts, bandoleer packed and in bulk. It is often deployed with the Mk19 Grenade Machine Gun, either sitting on the ground or in an ammo can holder on the left side of the weapon. Often used to replace the M2A1 Ammo Can for the M2 Browning on top of the Humvee.
The PA-120 ammo can is a large ammo box featuring heavy duty latches on both sides of the ammo can with exterior side bracing to increase structural rigidity. The removable lids have thick, rubber seals that are in excellent condition to ensure waterproof storage, with raised lips on the corners for stable stacking.
The PA-120 ammunition box is typically used to store and move 40mm cartridges such as he M430 HEDP or M385/385A1 practice cartridge, as well as other types of ammunition and artillery fuses. When the 40mm cartridges are linked into belts with M16A2 links, the PA-120 ammo can will hold 32 rounds. When packed in bulk, up to 50 rounds can be delivered in a PA-120 box for use with, for example, the M203 grenade launcher.
